Piet Hein chair
Piet Hein chair
The multi-faceted artist Piet Hein is one of the most famous Danish designers, notably for his famous "grook" or his superellipse™ tables. The unique shape of the superellipse™ is also the foundation of the PIET HEIN chair. The designer who was known for working on a wide variety of projects at the same time, developed this chair based on the superellipse™, a shape he had initially developed for urban spaces and roundabouts in Stockholm. Using mathematics, Piet Hein arrived at a harmonious geometric form which he then used in multiple contexts.
In close collaboration with the Piet Hein family, Sibast presents the superelliptical chair. As was the case with the superellipse™ table, the development of the PIET HEIN chair took almost a decade, from the initial idea to the final realization in 1968.
